What’s Cooking in 2020: Restaurant Openings in Mumbai to Watch Out For

Put on your eating pants!

If you thought 2019 was a good year for restaurants in Mumbai, 2020 is going to be even better. There is a slew of various kinds of restaurants, cafes and bars, all slated to open in the first three months of 2020. Mumbai foodies can look forward to a burst of diners serving Asian food, rooftop bars serving healthy food and cocktails made with locally sourced fresh produce, female-centric spaces and much more. 

Candy Club
 
Shraddha Bhansali, who has been at the helm of Breach Candy-based Candy and Green, has been championing sustainable eating from the get-go. This philosophy will now find fresh fervour in her new bar, Candy Club, located right above Candy and Green. The idea is to extend the tenets of sustainability to the bar program as well, so the rooftop space will see a cocktail menu featuring concoctions made with fresh and locally sourced ingredients along with globally inspired tapas-style dishes and a community dining experience.

Opening: January 20, 2020

Hotel ShangHigh
This year, founder of Massive Restaurants, Zorawar Kalra’s new goal of giving Indian foodies casual dining restaurants will manifest itself in the form of a bar and lounge in Lower Parel called Hotel ShangHigh. The new haunt will serve comfort Cantonese food and drinks in a bid to offer Mumbaikars an accessible and fun establishment. 
Opening: January 10, 2020


The Terrace, A Maiden Affair 
Ladies! The suburb of Andheri will see a lounge dedicated entirely to women. Brought to you by Karan Shah of the F&B firm called Mouthwatering Hospitality Private Limited, this space will boast a tropical, feminine vibe and healthy food. The bar will be headed by an all-women’s team. Are you texting your girl gang yet?
Opening: January 18 to 22, 2020



Chin Chin Chu 
Old-timer Prashant Chaudhri, who is best known for giving Mumbaikars Mangii Ferra, opened Chin Chin Chu, an easy-going Asian diner that has been lauded for its fairly affordable nosh, in 2019. The brand will find a second home this month in Lower Parel and Chaudhri promises that it’s going to be a treat, considering the restaurant will have sprawling interiors and a more immersive menu.
Opening: January 11, 2020

Woodside Inn
Established in 2007, Woodside Inn is a cherished gastropub in Mumbai and the pet project of Neighbourhood Hospitality owners Pankil Shah, Sumit Gambhir and Abhishek Honawar. With two outlets in Colaba and Andheri, the trio are now all set to step into Bandra with their thirteen-year-old project. It comes with the promise of great grub and a unique bar program. 
Opening: Early February, 2020



Sante Spa Cuisine 
Kasa Hospitality’s co-founder Kaneesha Jain will foray into South Mumbai with the second outlet of her signature project, Santé Spa Cuisine. This new abode will offer a brand new menu with fresh offerings you will not find in their BKC outlet. Will it be better and healthier? Yes! The interiors will even have a dedicated space for growing their own microgreens and a larger seating capacity.  
Opening: February, 2020

Flax
 
The brainchild of DJ turned entrepreneur Gurmeet Arora, Flax Healthy Living is a new healthy café that will spring up in Khar West next month. The menu - created after consulting an in-house nutritionist associated with well-known institute, Digestive Health Institute by Dr. Muffi - will feature a selection of healthy offerings made with ingredients like eggs, fresh fruits and home baked breads. You can expect innovative dishes from their early breakfast spread, gourmets and grills.  
Opening: Early February, 2020
