#WeekendBinge: Coffee Making to Storytelling, Mumbai Has a Cool Weekend for You

Coolest events and fun activities to check out in Mumbai from February 29 to March 1, 2020

Planning to give your kids a meaningful experience, this weekend but not sure how? Wondering how to get your hands dirty in the kitchen with Korean food? Spend your mornings musing about what goes into a truly good cup of coffee? No matter what you wish for or wherever your interests may lie, the beauty of this city lies in the fact that there’s something for everyone and a there are a ton of places to visit in Mumbai. Keeping that in mind, we’ve culled out some of the coolest events for you to check out. Scroll down for all the dope, and happy weekend!

Food for the Seoul

Celebrate all things Korean with Foodhall before their Seoul Food February festival end this weekend. Sample authentic Korean condiments, such as gochujang, a hot sauce that has been reimagined as mayonnaise and hummus. You can also tuck into Korean staples such as bibimbap and check out the demo stations, or simply hoard up on Korean favourites for your kitchen.

Literature for the li’l ones



There are many places to visit in Mumbai for kids. But this weekend, accompany your children to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS), where you can watch Goshtarang, a series of three short stories, designed to engage with kids and help them think creatively. The three plays that will be performed include Ka Ka Kumari written by Mahashweta Devi, Korika Navacha Patanga by Sharada Kolluru and Kapilene Ghetla Zhoka by Jujja and Tomas Wieslander.

You can bank on it 



After a successful stint in Juhu, Bar Bank, an open-air space featuring food trucks and bar, has now opened in Powai, and in a bigger avatar, too. The Powai outpost – a new addition to Mumbai’s nightlife scene – will have luxe new foodie brands such as Dirty Buns, Waffle House and Sassy Spiked. Head there for a fun time and especially if you’re the kind that hates making a decision, because here, you have lots to choose from.

Brew your weekend 



Spend your Saturday afternoon picking up a new skill at Mumbai and Pune’s favourite brewery, Doolally Taproom, where you can learn the basics of brewing coffee at a 1.5-hour-long session. The session, conducted by Blue Tokai Coffee, will include a chat on the impacts of water temperature and grind size on your coffee! Sounds like a fun thing to do this weekend?

Taste the Sea 



Drop by one of Colaba’s quaintest restaurants for a taste of asli seafood. Their corporate chef, Subhash Shirke has joined forces with home chef Rajini Kathin for a Koli food pop-up that promises to satiate your soul. Tuck into authentic delicacies like crab rassa, kolumbi cha ambata and tisrya masala to make the most of your visit!
