If you have someone in your life who loves to ogle beautiful photos of food and as much as they love eating it, gift them with a top-ranked cookery title this year and you might just score a home-cooked dinner invitation later.

With the year drawing to a close, editors at Amazon recently released their picks for the best cookbooks of 2018 and named Now and Again: Go-To Recipes, Inspired Menus and Endless Ideas for Reinventing Leftovers the best cookbook of the year.

In it, author Julia Turshen offers complete menu ideas for every season and recipes that make use of leftovers.

A wintry lunch of chili and cornbread, for instance, can be repurposed the next day for chili nachos and cornbread stuffing.

Turshen is no stranger to best books lists, with nods from food sites like Food & Wine, Eater, Epicurious and The New York Times
