A drink that spells all things Fall, the Pumpkin Spice Latte or PSL as it is popularly known as, is an espresso coffee drink made with steamed milk and pumpkin puree, and spiked with spices of Fall--cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. It is topped with a generous swirl of whipped cream and pumpkin pie spices to make it a warm, rich drink, just the kind to put you in the right mood. Globally, it is available beginning September, for a limited period.
While the PSL officially marked its debut on the Starbucks menu back in 2003, this year, Starbucks’ has launched its limited-edition PSL in India. It’s also available in an iced and blended version, in addition to the traditional hot variant, and will be available in all Starbucks stores across the country.
Indian cuisine has celebrated the orange squash in various forms, even before Halloween and Jack-o’-lanterns became trendy in urban India. Not surprisingly, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAOSTAT) states that India is the second largest producer of pumpkins (the first being China).
“Bringing the PSL to India, is like bringing a little bit of autumn,” says Veetika Deoras, Head - Marketing, Category, Digital and Loyalty at Tata Starbucks Limited. “Our partners have handcrafted the beverage to perfection, featuring Starbucks espresso at the core and unique ingredient combinations, which take the beverage experience to a whole new level,” adds Deoras. Aha, we’re going to get our mug of PSL and would love to know what you think!
