Mumbai’s First Ikea Store is on Four Wheels!

You can find it stationed at the Kamala Mills Compound in Lower Parel for the next 30 days

Ikea, the Swedish home furnishing retailer has launched two trucks on Mumbai roads as part of their ‘Ikea on Wheels’ expedition. The furnished and functional trucks are launched to familiarise potential customers with their products and offerings and promote online sales in the city. Mumbai is Ikea’s second India outpost, after its first retail store in Hyderabad in 2018.

Both these vehicles sport concepts such as Sustainable Living (kitchen) and Living with Children. The living room set-up is stationed at Mumbai’s Kamala Mills Compound and the kitchen unit will be on tour in the city, mainly south Mumbai and western suburbs. The route map for which can be found on Ikea’s official website.

The experts can also help them make online purchases. He added that Ikea identifies Mumbai as one of its top 30 cities globally. Hence, offering both online and offline solutions is a priority for them.

Ikea on Wheels is part of the brand’s hub-and-spoke model, which has also been introduced in other global cities such as Paris and Moscow. The idea is to adopt a multi-format strategy where there’s not only a signature big-box store on the outskirts of a city, but also smaller stores and experience centres within the city.

Apart from the experiential trucks, the furnishing retailer has also announce a 4, 00,000 sq. ft. store in Navi Mumbai. But no details have been shared regarding the launch of this store.
