Miss Malini Gives Us Insider Access To Her Favourite Places To Eat And Drink In Mumbai

Your NO FOMO guide for the best places to eat and drink in Mumbai, as told by Malini Agarwal

Malini Agarwal

Ah Mumbai, the city of dreams, drinks and late night butter chicken rolls! Here are just a few of the must-go places in my favourite city in the world. Bombay, I love you.

Breakfast find:

I love the vibe of Indigo Deli. You will be wooed by the smell of freshly baked bread and the utterly delicious eggs just the way you like them. Also, they have bacon. Need I say more?

Cafés to hang out:

There's a café in Bandra tucked away in Pali Hill with a peaceful vibe, but ironically it is called the BAD Café. It is owned by a brother-sister duo who will engage you with delightful conversation, fabulous coffee and delicious food. What's not to love!

I also love Pali Village Café. It's quaint and romantic and they project old movies on the walls while you indulge in a gourmet meal. Sweet!

For a sumptuous Indian fare:

Pali Bhavan in Bandra is a charming place for an Indian meal. Basically, it is the Indian cousin of Pali Village Café. The old-world essence of the interiors is highlighted by dangling chandeliers and hand-picked vintage photographs that blanket the walls. The mini vada paos are a must-have.

Bombay Canteen’s nostalgia-led drinks and food menu is pure love. You MUST try the desi taco.

Date Nights on Friday:

Feast on the seafood at Bastian. Because, the truest test of love is - Eat crab with your hands and yet there is no love lost next morning. True story! Plus, Chef Kelvin Cheung. *drops mic*

Or, A Girl about Town on Friday Night

Ok let’s do this! I'll give you my top picks for the whole week in Bombay and you can go to all of them on a Friday too, here goes…

Monday: Head to Bonobo, TAP, Doolally, Radio Bar, Fatty Bao, Monkey Bar and/or Dishkiyaoon. Play a little foosball, drink a little beer. Come back on Friday and dance on table tops.
Tuesday: Elbo Room in Khar has a nice vibe, retro tunes and an excellent "how-did-it-get-so-crazy?" potential.
Wednesday: Karaoke night at One Street Over with happy hour till 9 pm.
Thursday: Olive Bandra is an iconic venue and the first place that started Thursday Night Fever in the city.

Weekend Parties:

All of the above and then some more:

Raasta in Khar has amazing reggae tunes, live acts and surprisingly affordable yet potent drinks. Magazine Resto Bar on Waterfield Road in Bandra is a trippy spot with huge potential.
You can buy drinks on wholesale at Bar Bar at Phoenix Marketcity in Kurla. What a genius idea!
The Drunken Clam on Linking Road in Bandra plays super fun tunes and you can also get some old school hip hop on request :)
Mirabella in Andheri is a massive new lounge bar that has huge potential for more sundown parties.

Kamala Mills in Lower Parel has emerged as a wicked party destination. Koko is a classy new bar with cocktails curated by the awesome Dimi Lezinska. Farzi Café has great music and fancy drinks. PDT is all about hip hop and Bollywood.

SOBO or town has stayed loyal to Wink, Taj President's iconic bar with a very unique Wasabi martini. Grab yourself a Long Island Iced Tea by the pool at the Dome and take in the amazing sea view. 145 in Kalaghoda offers some pretty awesome novelty cocktails as you groove to their excellent playlist. And, lastly, Indigo!

But, where do I go dancing?

I thought you'd never ask!

LIV in Kalaghoda: Book yourself a VIP table and have an epic party, sparklers and all.
Playboy Club in Worli: The spanking new super-club that is a must-visit.
Trilogy in Juhu: Has earned accolades as the most awarded night club in Mumbai.
Villa 69 in Juhu: If Bollywood movies is your thing, THIS is where you belong.
R Adda in Juhu: Every time I've been here, it's been all kinds of awesome. Just go.
Kitty Su in Andheri: Their air-conditioning is on point and the music doesn't stop till you drop!

Hole-in-the-wall you must try

Ghetto in Mahalakshmi is the oldest dive bar in Bombay. Their pool tables and graffiti walls are etched in my memory.

And finally, Sunday

Sundays are for brunch. Try the amazing new brunch menu at Asilo. Nothing can match the experience of lazily sipping on a drink at the highest rooftop lounge in the city.

Or, start early at the Four Seasons Saturday Chandon brunch and rage for the next 24 hours. I assure you, it can be done!

Detox Mondays:

Bombay Salad Company has lots of fresh, delicious salads, wraps and drinks. Healthy and yum!

Miss Malini's Afterparty

You know you're going to have that midnight craving, so save Mini Punjab and Sigdi on speed dial. Oh and if you don't know "Deepak Wines" you're missing out. They deliver drinks to your doorstep till 3am! You're welcome :) xoxo
