Whether you’re working from home right now or on a break until further notice in a bid to flatten the curve of the coronavirus outbreak, it’s easy to end up as a couch potato with focus on fitness falling by the wayside. While there are plenty of Youtube at-home workout videos and Instagram fitness hacks for home, nothing beats a good old push by our desi celebrities.
With your neighbourhood gym shutting shop thanks to the pandemic, charming and svelte actor Katrina Kaif comes to the rescue with a workout video. The Sooryavanshi actress along with her fitness guru Yasmin Karachiwala took to Instagram to share a series of workout videos.
The duo is seen chatting and sweating it out on a terrace. “I still think we can workout at home. We can do a small workout at home, maybe 20-25 minutes. You don’t have to stress your body but even a little bit of workout is good for your immunity,” says Kaif in one of the videos. She adds, “It also keeps your endorphins up at a time where there’s fear and anxiety around.”
Here’s a breakup of Kaif and Karachiwala’s 20-minute workout:
1. Squat and side leg life – three sets x 20 reps
2. Reverse lunge – three sets x 15 reps
3. Situp – three sets x 20 reps
4. Pushup – three sets x 15 reps (you can substitute with incline pushups or knee pushups)
5. Plant to the ‘T’ – three sets x 15 reps
6. Mountain Climbers – four slow and 15 tempo x three sets
Kaif’s video comes days after Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Jacqueline Fernandez shared tips to workout at home amidst coronavirus quarantine.
With the World Health Organisation (WHO) reporting 184,976 cases and counting of the COVID-19 across 159 destinations, the odds of celebrities being spared are low. They are constantly on-the-go for shoots and promotions. It was just a matter of time before a famous name tested positive for the virus. On March 11, 2020 Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, confirmed they contracted COVID-19 and five days later, on March 16, 2020 British heartthrob Idris Elba took to Twitter to share that he’d been tested positive too. Several others followed suit. Since then celebrities across the globe are practicing social distancing as advised by the government authorities of their respective countries and WHO.
In this time of uncertainty, consult the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs’ website for information and make note of the advisory on social distancing shared by the authorities.
