Show your hair some TLC with these homemade hair masks that will take care of all your hair woes

Excessive use of styling products, pollution and stress are to blame for frequent bad hair days. These culprits leave your hair frizzy, dull and damaged. Add to it, the monsoon brings its own set of hair problems with frizzy hair being the most frustrating to manage during these months. Frizzy hair is a result of the hydration requirement not being met. The hair cuticle opens up allowing the moisture from the hair into it leading to the frizzy look. But don't fret, there are several ways to avoid the humidity from ruining your good hair day. Dr Apratim Goel, laser surgeon and dermatologist, Cutis Skin Studio says eggs are the answer to all your hair problems. Dr Goel answers some frequently asked questions about eggs and their effect on your hair along with some easy to make hair masks using egg.

Why egg?
Since hair is made up of 70 per cent of a protein called keratin, using an ingredient rich in protein helps to rebuild damaged hair.

Which part?
In case you are wondering which part of the egg is the most beneficial to your hair, that depends on your hair type. If you have oily hair, stick to the egg whites. These help to control oil production and nourish your hair. On the other hand, the yolk is high on fatty content so it works as a great conditioning agent for those with dry hair. Those with normal to combination hair can go ahead and use the whole egg, to reap the combined goodness of both the white and the yolk.

How to?
Dr Goel says, "Just like you would use shampoo, you can use eggs to wash your hair." Whip the egg part of your choice into a liquid and apply it to your hair. Let it sit for some time and then simply rinse it out with lukewarm water. You do not need to follow it up with a conditioner. In case your hair is too frizzy, you can apply a leave-in conditioner after the wash. "Egg is rich in proteins, vitamins and fatty acids. All of these are essential for good hair health. It is, in fact, good to apply egg on your hair regularly," says Dr Goel.

What about the smell?
Simply add a hint of some citrus juice like lemon juice to the egg mask before applying it. This will overpower the egg's unpleasant smell.
