Thanks to their new seafood menu, ‘Dockyard Chronicles’, which showcases the day’s freshest catch prepared in a variety of ways, giving us seafood lovers just enough reasons to rejoice. Borrowing influences from international culinary cultures and staying true to its Indian roots at the same time, Toast & Tonic’s new menu celebrates all things fish. Whether you like your fish raw, cured, chilled or fried, there’s enough for everyone to choose from.

Prawns Aguachile

While the classic Prawns Aguachile and Tuna Tartare make for a light and refreshing treat, the creamy Lobster Bisque is sure to leave you craving for more.

Tuna Tartare

A fiery mix of red onions, green chillies, coriander and lime, the Aguachile is a simple dish where the star ingredient – prawn – is simply cured in lime juice, and yet manages to pack a tangy punch. Tuna Tartare, on the other hand, is made with Sushi Grade Japanese Tuna that’s served alongside an in-house made harissa to add just the right amount of heat. This little treat, signed off with buckwheat crackers, tender arugula leaves and a powerful lemon preserve, makes for a simple yet impressive dish.

Lobster Bisque

The Lobster Bisque with Gobindobhog rice, sourdough and sorghum wheat crisp and okra bursts with flavours of the seashore. Each bite into the Lobster Roll which comes along with Naga chilli aioli, Togarashi and tapioca chips makes it impossible to resist.

With the rise in temperature, it’s only right to be gorging on something light, chilled and refreshing. Giving you the best of both worlds – lobster and crab – the Chilled Crab and Lobster Salad won’t let you down. Grapefruits, oranges and sweet limes come together on a bed of arugula along with a side of roasted sweet peppers to make this oh-so flavourful salad. The pairing of the citrus fruits with the crustacean manages to bring to light the underlying sweetness of the crab and lobster.

Chilli Tossed Salmon Poke Bowl

Another too-pretty-to-eat-dish that you’ll find on the menu is the Chilli Tossed Salmon Poke Bowl with bright orange Atlantic fish from Scotland, drizzled with balanced passion fruit and pineapple vinaigrette with mustard greens, chia seeds and seaweed, served alongside some aromatic Gobindobhog rice from the southern basin of the Damodar River is an impressive dish that’ll hit you on the right spot. If you crave something cool, the Prawns Ceviche should be your go-to dish. Locally sourced prawns treated with pickled mustard, onions, red chillies and fresh coriander bring out the natural flavours of the fish rather than overpowering it. Placed on a prawn cracker and garnished with citrus zest and fresh jalapenos, nothing says summer better than this dish.

Salmon Sandwich Toast

The Rare Seared Tuna, Warm Salad of Kale and Oysters and Big Salmon Sandwich are other dishes that shouldn't be missed.

What more, featuring a first of its kind Raw Bar in the country, Dockyard Chronicles also brings to you some of the best and fresh top-rung seafood, including prawns and clams, specially sourced from different parts of the country and also Sri Lanka. While you’re munching on something other than the standard bar snacks, you can wash it all down with Gin-tleman’s Tonic or a British Raj – a gin and tonic with pomegranate, cinnamon, rose petals and cucumber ice for a happy high. Crafted to guarantee that what you chow down will go beautifully with whatever you drink, particularly a gin and tonic, the seafood menu makes the place worth the visit.
