Follow these simple steps to make Urad Dal Dahi vada at your home.

Ingredients required to Make Dahi Vada
Urad Dal                               -              500 Gms
Baking Powder  -              ½ Tsp
Yoghurt or Curd                -              2 Cup
Red Chilli Powder             -              ½ Tsp
Black Salt                             -              ¼ Tsp
Refined oil                          -              1 Cup
Sugar                                     -              1 Tsp
Salt                                         -              As per Taste
Cumin Seeds                      -              2 Tbsp
Chaat Masala                     -              1 Tbsp

For Garnish
Ginger                  -              2 Inches
Coriander Leaves             -              1 Handful (Chopped)
Green Chutney                 -              2
Tamarind Chutney           -              2 Tbsp

Method of preparing Dahi Vada
First, rinse urad dal properly and soak it overnight. Then grind the dal to a fine paste using little water. Keep a check on the thickness of the batter.

Add baking powder and salt into the batter and beat it well until it becomes fluffy and light.

Take a frying pan and heat the oil. Using a wet plastic sheet in your palm, make a big circular shaped ball from the batter.

After flattening the top of the circular ball, fry it in hot oil.

Deep fry the vada on medium heat until they are golden brown in colour.

Once done, remove it and add them into a bowl of water for around 15 to 20 minutes.

Next, remove them from the water and gently press between the palms to remove the excess water.

Sieve the yoghurt to ensures there are no lumps. Then add salt, sugar and give it a good Mix.

For Dahi Vada Masala
In a small pan dry roast the cumin seeds until light brown and make a smooth powder.

Chop coriander leaves and green chillies finely.

After cleaning the ginger, julienne it.

For Serving
Take a Vada and place it in a serving plate.

Spread curd mix evenly on the vada.

Add chaat masala, cumin powder, red chilli powder from the top.

Add tamarind and green chutney and serve immediately. The yummy Dahi Wada is ready to relish.
