Cocktails with a Twist to Shake Things Up

Bored of serving the age-old rum and coke or gin and tonic at your house parties? Then these quick and easy herb-infused cocktail recipes by Allen Da’Costa, Assistant Restaurant Manager, The Dining Room, Grand Hyatt Goa, will definitely get the party started.

Lemongrass Gin & Tonic

You need:
Gin 60ml
Lime 2 slices
Lemongrass 4 stalks
Tonic water Top-up
Lemongrass 10ml
syrup

To serve: Pilsner glass
Shake it up:
•Take a pilsner glass.
•Squeeze the juice of half a lime.
•Add few ice cubes and lemongrass syrup.
•Pour gin and complete it by adding tonic water.
•Garnish the cocktail with stalk of lemongrass and a slice of lime.

Aloe Vera Margarita

You need:
Aloe Vera slice/syrup 1 slice or 10ml
Lime 5ml
Honey 5ml
Tequila 60ml

To serve: Old-fashioned glass
Shake it up:
•Add the aloe vera slice/syrup, tequila, lime and honey in a cocktail shaker or a jar and shake it well.
•Strain the mixture into a salt-rimmed glass, filled with ice.
•Garnish it with either a lemon wedge or aloe vera slice.

Boozy Basil Lemonade

You need:
Gin 50ml
Simple syrup 5ml
Strawberry syrup 2 sprigs
Basil 3 leaves
Rosemary a few sprigs

To serve: Martini glass
Shake it up:
•Lightly muddle fresh strawberries, basil and rosemary.
•Add simple syrup and pour vodka.
•Serve it in a pre-chilled martini glass.
•Use a few sprigs of rosemary to garnish.
•To complete the cocktail, top it with lemonade.

Lime Daiquiri

You need:
Bacardi 60ml
Lime 2 wheels/1 wedge
Lemon juice 10ml

To serve: Martini glass
Shake it up:
•Build the drink in a shaker.
•Add ingredients with ice and shake well.
•Pour the cocktail into a martini glass and serve.

Pineapple Basil Mojito

You need:
Sugar Syrup 10ml
Mint 6 Leaves
Basil 3 leaves
Pineapple
chunks 4 pieces
Rum 60ml
Soda Top up
Lime wedges 3 pieces

To serve: Hi-ball glass
Shake it up:
•Put the basil and two lime wedges in the bottom of a glass and muddle it, either using a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon.
•Add pineapple juice, rum, ice cubes and top with club soda.
•Garnish the cocktail with a slice of pineapple, lime wedge or a sprig of basil.
