No major plans this weekend? Kidding. We just said it to act like we have somewhere to go. Truth is, this year, the TV screen is our window and the living room our only destination. But we're keen to make the most of it. How, you may ask? Thankfully, OTT platforms and the entertainment world always has something up its sleeve.
This weekend looks particularly promising, with a bunch of new releases, including the much awaited Vidya Balan-starrer, Shakuntala Devi. We scoured the net to pick top four movies to check out, so there's no time wasted in deciding. So, grab a bowl of comfort food, a glass of stiff quarantini, get into your PJs and let the bingewatch begin!
Shakuntala DeviNetizens are in awe of Vidya Balan in Anu Menon’s warm and vibrant, Shakuntala Devi. The dramatised biopic - based on world-renown, Indian math wizard and Guinness-Book record holder, Shakuntala Devi - is already raking up the charts. The slice-of-life feature film, in the news earlier for choosing a digital premier, tries to impart a balanced narrative of Devi's personal and professional life and features actors, Amit Sadh, Sanya Malhotra and Jisshu Sengupta, too.

Raat Akeli HaiBollywood casting director, Honey Trehan’s directorial debut, Raat Akeli Hai looks promising, to say the least. With venerated actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead, as a brave small-town cop investigating a murder, Raat Akeli Hai looks like a must-watch for mystery lovers. The story spans the death of a landlord with a complicated familial history and his fiance's role is being essayed by Radhika Apte. This is a classic whodunit, interspersed with intelligently placed comic relief, and an even more engaging background score composed by musician Karan Kulkarni. We know we're checking this out for sure.

LootcaseKunal Kemmu, Rasika Dugal, Ranvir Shorey and Gajraj Rao come together for debutant director Rajesh Krishnan’s Lootcase. Set in Mumbai, Lootcase is a chaotic drama following the story of Nandan, the lead role, played by Kemmu, who portrays the character of a strung out commoner struck with sheer luck - a red suitcase filled with black money. What Nandan doesn't know, is that a powerful politician and a police officer will do anything to get their hands on it. Equal parts gripping and entertaining, we can already see the Internet exploding with memes. The one liners in this one will have you ROFL-ing hard.
