Bollywood actor Hina
Khan is religiously practicing sawm
(fasting) during the
extraordinary Ramzan we’re witnessing in 2020. Since day one, she has been telling her
fans and followers on Instagram about how Ramzan in lockdown is a boon because
she can rest, pray, and spend time with her family, which was otherwise
difficult due to her hectic work schedule. Khan is also giving them a peek into
her prayer routine, and food prepared for sehri
and iftar at home.
Recently, she shared a healthy and refreshing salad recipe from her iftar food spread on IGTV. “During Ramzan, especially at the time of sehri, I have fun eating such chatpati (piquant) dishes. During Sehri, at 4:00 am, you don’t feel like eating anything, such salads and chutneys help stimulate my appetite,” Khan explains.
Without further ado, let’s learn how to make Khan’s ‘Ramadan Special Salad’:
1 bowl cucumber, chopped
1 cup tomato, chopped
1 cup onion, chopped
½ cup coriander, chopped
1½ teaspoon red chilli powder
Salt to taste
Vinegar to taste2-3 lemon wedges
- In a big bowl, add tomato, onion, and cucumber.
- Add salt, red chilli powder, vinegar, and lemon juice to the veggies and mix well.
- Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
vegetarian-friendly snacks, meat curries that are ready in an hour, and succulent kebabs.
For the uninitiated, Ramzan is a holy month according to
Islam and during this Muslims across the globe abstain from food and water from
sunrise to sunset and conduct prayers. Sehri (a pre-dawn meal) and iftar (a post-sunset
meal) are the two most of important meals for everyone who is fasting.
