Umm Ali is a traditional Middle-Eastern dessert with much history behind it. Chef Shipra Khanna’s Umm Ali pudding is a mixture of dry fruits and pastry. You can serve it as a dessert at your parties.

INGREDIENTS

  • 7 tbsp butter
  • 1 packet phyllo pastry sheets
  • For sauce:
  • 250 mil milk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup almonds
  • 1/4 cup pistachios
  • 1/2 cup pine nuts
  • 1/2 cup raisins

HOW TO PREPARE UMM ALI

  1. 1

    Grease the baking tray with butter and keep it aside Cut the phyllo pastry sheets into halves Layer the tray with sheets by applying butter and bake it in a preheated oven at 180'C for 10 - 15 minutes.

    For the sauce, in a pan, add milk, vanilla essence, sugar Finely chop the almonds and pistachios Add the milk to the phyllo sheets Add chopped nuts, pine nuts and bake it again in the oven at 180'C for 20 - 25 minutes.

    Garnish with raisins and serve.
