INGREDIENTS

  • FOR the dough
  • 1½ cup refined flour
  • 1 tbsp icing sugar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp pecan nut powder
  • 1½ tsp sour cream
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • 1 tbsp sunflower seeds
  • FOR the glaze
  • ½ cup demerara brown sugar
  • ½ cup milk

HOW TO PREPARE STEAMED PECAN ROLLS

    Take refined flour in a large bowl and add icing sugar, pecan powder, sunflower seeds and sour cream.

    Mix them well.
  3. 3

    Add olive oil and warm milk and once again mix everything to form a dough.
  4. 4

    The dough will be slightly wet in texture.
  5. 5

    Dust some refined flour on the kitchen platform and roll the dough.
  6. 6

    Flatten the dough slightly and sprinkle refined flour on it and roll it out using a rolling pin.

    Spread the pecan powder and sprinkle some olive oil over it.

    Roll the rolled out dough.
  9. 9

    Boil some water in a flat pan.
  10. 10

    Cut small portions of the rolled dough and place them on the kitchen platform, such that the cut sides face you.

    Gently press each portion to slightly flatten it.

    Place these rolls in the steamer for steaming for 10 minutes, with the lid closed.

    To prepare the glaze, heat a saucepan and put the brown sugar on it.
  14. 14

    Add fresh milk to the sugar and stir well.

    Switch off the flame.

    Open the lid of the pan in which the rolls are steaming.

    The rolls are steamed half-way at this stage.

    Sprinkle some pecan powder and sunflower seeds and add some water, if you feel the water is insufficient.

    Close the lid and steam for about three minutes more.
  20. 20

    Remove the rolls and place them in a serving dish.
  21. 21

    Pour the glaze on the rolls, sprinkle some sunflower seeds and serve hot.
