INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 cup soaked sago
  • ¼ cup jaggery
  • grated
  • ½ cup sugar water
  • Rose petals
  • Caramelized sugar wire

HOW TO PREPARE SOUTH-EAST ASIAN GULA MELAKA

    Heat the coconut milk in a non stick pan.

    Add water as required.
  3. 3

    Bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. 4

    Add the soaked sago.
  5. 5

    Mix well.
  6. 6

    Add the grated jaggery.
  7. 7

    Stir and set aside.
  8. 8

    In a different pan, add sugar and sprinkle some water over it.
  9. 9

    Caramelize the sugar and set aside.
  10. 10

    Dip the edges of a Martini glass in the caramelized sugar.
  11. 11

    Serve the coconut mixture in the glass, garnishing with the rose petals and the caramelized sugar wire.
