Singapore Rice Balls

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup rice flour
  • Butter or oil for greasing
  • 1 cup date paste
  • Sesame seeds as required
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp peanut powder
  • water.

    Add water to a steamer and let it steam.
  2. 2

    In a deep pan, heat a cup of water and add rice flour to it.
  3. 3

    Quickly stir to avoid lumps.
  4. 4

    Stir vigorously until a soft dough is formed.
  5. 5

    Knead the dough when warm and make an elongated roll.
  6. 6

    Grease a knife with oil or butter and cut the elongated dough into lemon sized portions.
  7. 7

    Spread each into a circular disc using your hands.
  8. 8

    Make smaller balls of the date paste and place in each dough disc.
  9. 9

    Seal well.
  10. 10

    In a bowl, combine sesame seeds, peanut powder, and cardamom powder.
  11. 11

    Dampen your hands and then roll the balls in this mixture.
  12. 12

    Steam them for 10 15 min.

    Serve hot.
