Puttu with Prawns

  • FOR Prawns Curry
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp chopped ginger
  • 8 - 10 chopped garlic cloves
  • 1 2 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 8 10 curry leaves
  • 1 tsp coconut water
  • 1 tbsp kudampuli (malabar tamarind)
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • Coconut water as required
  • ½ cup prawns
  • FOR Puttu
  • 1 cup cracked wheat soaked
  • ½ cup rice flour roasted
  • salt to taste
  • ½ cup coconut water

    For prawn curry masala in a bowl, add grated coconut, coriander seeds, salt, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, chopped ginger, garlic cloves, coconut oil.

    Grind the mixture to a smooth paste.
  3. 3

    Transfer the curry paste to a bowl.
  4. 4

    In another bowl, add soaked cracked wheat (daliya), toasted rice flour, salt, and coconut water.
  5. 5

    Mix well.
  6. 6

    In a puttu maker, add daliya mixture then add grated coconut in alternate layers.
  7. 7

    Steam puttu.
  8. 8

    In a pan, add coconut oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves, prawn curry masala, coconut water and cook the curry.

    In a bowl, marinate prawns with salt.
  10. 10

    Add marinated prawns, Kudampuli (malabar tamarind), coconut milk, and coconut water to the pan and let the curry boil.

    Delicious puttu with prawns is ready.
