Prawn Vadai

A lentil vada stuffed with prawns is a perfect starter for your party.

INGREDIENTS

  • 100 gms Prawns
  • 200 gms Split Bengal Gram
  • 50 gms Coconut (Grated)
  • 3 to 4 Green Chillies
  • 1 tbsp Split Bengal Gram
  • 1 tsp Tumeric Powder
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Lemon Juice
  • 15 gms Carrot
  • To taste Salt
  • To taste Crushed Black Pepper
  • As required Oil
  • For Salad: 50 gms Cabbage
  • 20 gms Carrot
  • 1 Onion
  • 20 gms Coconut
  • 15 gms Coriander
  • 1 Lemon Juice
  • To taste Crushed Black Pepper
  • For Garnish:Tamarind Sambal

HOW TO PREPARE PRAWN VADAI

  1. 1

    For making Vadai, Grind 200 gms soaked chana dal into fine paste, mix 50 gms grated coconut and 3-4 finely chopped green chillies in it ,Add 1 tbsp soaked chana dal, 1 tsp turmeric and mix the batter well.

    Make a shape of vadai with one prawn stuffed inside and fry in hot oil, make some plain vadai without stuffing and fry them as well, once fried press by hand to crack them and fry them again to crisp them.

    In a hot pan, add some oil, 1 sliced onion, 100 gms prawns, salt to taste, juice of 1 lemon, 15 gms grated carrot, black pepper to taste and sauté.

    For Salads, In a bowl, add 50 gms finely sliced cabbage, 20 gms grated carrot, 1 thinly sliced onion, 20 gms grated coconut, 15 gms chopped coriander, juice of 1 lemon, crushed black pepper to taste and mix well.

    To serve, place vadai in a plate, put the prawns on top and salad on side, drizzle tamarind sambal over the vadai,Prawn Vadai is ready to be served.
