INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 cup toor dal
  • ½ cup green chana
  • 3 to 4 garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 2 green chillies
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • a pinch of asafoetida
  • 2 tbsp green sprouts
  • 1 tbsp sunflower seeds
  • 1 tbsp flax seeds
  • salt to taste
  • For Serving: Pickle
  • buttermilk
  • For Garnish: Coriander

PREPARATION

    Wash and drain rice. Wash and soak tuvar dal and green chana in a bowl. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan, add cumin seeds. Let them crackle. Add chopped garlic and sliced onions. Saute well. Add slit chillies turmeric, and asafoetida, sauté well. Add the drained rice and lentils. Add green sprouts and sufficient water. Cover and let simmer for a few minutes. Cook till done stirring occasionally. Add flax seeds and sunflower seeds. Top the multigrain khichdi with fresh chopped coriander and serve hot with pickle and buttermilk.
