Mulligatawny Soup

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger, chopped
  • 1 tsp black peppercorns
  • 1 bay leaf
  • ½ cup split red lentils, soaked
  • 1 tsp All ground spice
  • 1 tsp paprika powder, Water as required, Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ¼ cup coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp tamarind pulp
  • FOR garnish
  • ¼ cup riceboiled
  • onions fried
  • coriander leaves

HOW TO PREPARE MULLIGATAWNY SOUP

    Heat oil in a pan.
  2. 2

    Add chopped garlic cloves, chopped ginger, black peppercorns, bay leaf, soaked split red lentils, ground spice, paprika powder, water, salt, cumin powder, turmeric powder, and coriander powder.

    Cook for some time.
  4. 4

    Remove the mixture and blend it.
  5. 5

    Heat the blended mixture in a pan.
  6. 6

    Add water, as required, to the pan and then add coconut milk and tamarind pulp.
  7. 7

    Cook for some time.
  8. 8

    Strain the soup and boil it again in the pan.
  9. 9

    Serve the soup in a bowl.
  10. 10

    Add boiled rice to it.
  11. 11

    Garnish with fried onions and coriander sprigs.
