INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup soaked whole green lentils
  • water as required
  • salt to taste
  • ½ tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1 ½ cup cracked wheat (lapsi)
  • 2-3 tbsp clarified butter
  • water as required
  • 2 tbsp clarified butter
  • ½ cup jaggery
  • 2-3 tbsp clarified butter
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1-2 dry red chillies
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 3-4 cloves
  • ½ tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 12-15 curry leaves
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp asafoetida
  • 1 tsp jaggery
  • 2 tsp tamarind paste

PREPARATION

    To make Moong Lapsi, add water, salt, turmeric and red chili powder to the 6-7 hours soaked split green gram (moong) in the cooker, and let it cook for 2 to 3 whistles.

    Roast the lapsi, desi ghee and water in a pan, add jaggery to it and let it cook.

    Add desi ghee, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red dry chillies, cinnamon, cloves, fenugreek seeds, a little water, curry leaves, red chili powder and asafetida and then add boiled green gram (moong) to it and let it cook.

    Add jaggery and tamarind paste in the pan and let it cook.

    Take out Moong Lapsi in a plate and serve.
