Missi Roti

An Indian meal is incomplete without an accompanying Indian bread or roti. Here Chef Ranveer Brar goes back in time and shares with us his grandmother’s recipe of Missi Roti. This mildly spicy roti made with wheat flour and leftover dal and served hot with dollops of white butter will melt in your mouth.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • ½ cup leftover dal
  • 1-2 tbsp clarified butter
  • ½ onion -grated
  • 1 green Chilli
  • coriander Leaves
  • 1 garlic clove -grated
  • salt to taste
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp wheat flour

HOW TO PREPARE MISSI ROTI

  1. 1

    Combine wheat flour, leftover dal and clarified butter to make a dough.
  2. 2

    Mix together grated onion, grated garlic, green chilli, salt, red chilli powder and wheat flour and add this mixture to the dough made earlier.
  3. 3

    Make balls form the dough and then roll out rotis.
  4. 4

    Fry the rotis from both sides in clarified butter on a flat tava (Griddle).
