INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup white lentil
  • water as required
  • salt to taste
  • 1 onion
  • 1 piece ginger
  • 2 green chillies
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • ½ small piece coconut
  • oil as required
  • coconut chutney
  • ginger chutney
  • Sambar

PREPARATION

    To make Medu Vada, first wash the split black gram (urad dal) in a bowl and make its paste in a mixer grinder adding cold water.

    Add salt, onions, ginger, green chillies, curry leaves and chopped wet coconut to the paste.

    Now take the mixture and with help of hands, make small balls/cutlets, and fry it in the oil by piercing from the middle.

    Medu vada is ready; serve it with coconut and ginger chutney, and sambar.
