INGREDIENTS

  • 5 fish pieces
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • oil for deep frying
  • For masala
  • 2-inch ginger
  • 2-3 dry red chillies
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • water
  • For gravy
  • 3 tbsp mustard oil
  • 2-3 bay leaves
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 3 green cardamom
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 onion
  • 1 cup curd
  • salt
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 cup of coconut milk
  • ½ tsp spice mix (cinnamon/ black cardamom/cloves)
  • For pulao
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 to 5 black pepper
  • 1 black cardamom
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 3 to 4 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 cup pre-soaked basmati rice
  • salt as per taste
  • 100 gms green peas
  • water

PREPARATION

    Marinate the fish in a bowl along with turmeric powder, salt for 15 - 20 minutes.
  2. 2

    Deep fry the fish in the oil.
  3. 3

    Prepare a paste of ginger, dry red chillies, poppy seeds, black peppercorns, coriander seeds, cumin seeds and water.

    Add water and keep it aside.
  5. 5

    In a heated pan, add mustard oil, bay leaf, green & black cardamom, cumin seeds and mix.
  6. 6

    Add onions and saute.
  7. 7

    Strain the paste in a bowl and add it in the gravy.

    Leave it to cook.
  9. 9

    Add curd, salt as per taste and red chilli powder and let it cook.
  10. 10

    Strain the gravy again and let it boil.
  11. 11

    Add coconut milk, spice mix of cinnamon, cloves and black cardamom and leave it to cook.

    Add the fried fish and let it simmer for 2 minutes.

    For Pulao, in a heated pan, add ghee and let it warm.
  14. 14

    Add cumin seeds, cinnamon, black peppercorns, cloves, black cardamom, bay leaf and saute.

    Add soaked basmati rice, salt as per taste, green peas and mix it.

    Add water and let it cook.
  17. 17

    Serve the fish curry hot with Pulao.
