INGREDIENTS

  • 4 finely chopped onions
  • 2 finely chopped tomatoes
  • 4 - 5 amritsari wadi
  • 8 - 9 tbsp ghee
  • 1 ½ cup masoor dal
  • water as required
  • salt as per taste
  • 3 inch ginger
  • 2 green chillies
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 2 - 3 tbsp ghee
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • ½ tsp fennel seeds
  • coriander leaves

PREPARATION

    Heat ghee in a pan and fry Amritsari wadis and grind them into a fine powder.

    Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and add masoor dal, ground wadis and mix well.
  3. 3

    Add water, salt, ginger and chilli paste and mix well. Pressure cook the dal until done.

    Heat ghee in a pan and saute ginger-garlic-chilli paste, finely chopped onions, turmeric powder chilli powder and tomatoes.

    Add the cooked dal to the pan and mix well. Heat ghee in another pan and add coriander and fennel seeds and pour the tempering over the dal.

    Garnish the dal with coriander. Maa ki Dal is ready to serve.
