INGREDIENTS

  • For misal masala
  • 4 - 5 dried red chillies
  • 2 - 3 star anise
  • 8 - 10 cloves
  • 3 - 4 tbsp black peppercorns
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 2 - 3 stone flowers
  • 2 black cardamom
  • 2 mace
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp fennel seeds
  • 1 tbsp coconut powder
  • 5 - 6 garlic cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • For misal lentils
  • 2 - 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 - 2 onions
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 3 - 4 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tomato
  • 4 - 5 tbsp kolhapuri misal masala
  • 1 cup bean sprouts and chana
  • 1 cup moong sprouts
  • water
  • salt
  • For misal tari rassa
  • 2 - 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 - 2 onions
  • 3 - 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 - 3 tbsp grated coconut
  • 1 tbsp chilli paste
  • 1 - 2 tbsp kolhapuri misal masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 - 2 tomatoes
  • salt
  • water
  • coriander leaves
  • onions
  • farsan
  • lemon
  • sliced bread

PREPARATION

  1. 1

    Dry roast dried red chillies, star anise, cloves, black pepper, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, stone flowers, black cardamom, mace, sesame seeds, fennel seeds, coconut powder, garlic and cinnamon stick. Grind the roasted spices into a powder.

    Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, finely chopped onions, ginger, garlic, turmeric, chopped tomatoes, kolhapuri misal masala and saute.

    Add sprouted beans, chana, sprouted moong, water, salt and cook.

    Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, garlic, chopped onions, grated coconut, chilli paste, kolhapuri misal masala, turmeric, tomato, salt, water, coriander leaves and cook.

    Kolhapuri Tari Rassa is ready. Serve it with onions, farsan, lemon and sliced bread.
