INGREDIENTS

  • For the marinade
  • 15-20 prawns
  • salt
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • asafoetida
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 3 kokam
  • For the rice
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 10-15 black peppercorns
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 6-8 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • salt
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp goda masala
  • 2green chillies
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 cups water

PREPARATION

    For the marinade: In a mixing bowl, add prawns, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, asafoetida, ginger garlic paste and kokam.

    Mix them well and allow it to rest for some time.
  3. 3

    For the rice: Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, bay leaves, black peppercorns, black cardamom, cloves, cinnamon stick, onions, ginger garlic paste, chopped tomatoes and salt. Sauté them well.

    Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, goda masala and green chillies.

    Add the marinated prawns, basmati rice and water.

    Mix it well and cook the rice for 20 to 30 minutes.

    Your Kolambi Bhaat is ready to be served.
