Khatkhate

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup of rice
  • 125-gm toor dal
  • 50 gm white vatana
  • 200 ml water
  • 3 tsp turmeric powder
  • 3 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 stalk curry leaves
  • 10 Triphala berries
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 2 dry red chillies
  • 2 tbsp tamarind pulp
  • 1 drumstick blanched
  • 1 carrot blanched
  • 1 raw banana
  • 100-gm pumpkin
  • 75-gm corn
  • Salt as per taste
  • Coconut chilli paste
  • 1 tbsp jaggery
  • 1 tsp jeera powder
  • 3 kokum flowers
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds

HOW TO PREPARE KHATKHATE

    In a bowl, add rice and let it soak Add water in a pan and let it boil Add oil, salt, curry leaves, Triphala berries, soaked rice, and let it cook.

    In another bowl, add toor dal and boil it in the water Add turmeric powder and let it boil.

    In another bowl, add grated coconut, dry red chillies, turmeric powder, tamarind pulp and mix it Add the mixture in a jar and prepare a paste Add the paste in a bowl.

    Strain the rice in a bowl To the dal, add blanched drumstick, carrot, raw banana, pumpkin, yam Add corn, salt as per taste, coconut chilli paste and mix it well.

    Add jaggery, jeera powder, Triphala berries, kokum flowers and mix it well.
  6. 6

    In another heated pan, add oil, cumin seeds, curry leaves and let it pop Pour the tadka in the dal and serve it hot with rice.
