INGREDIENTS

  • 3 to 4 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup sliced onions
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tsp red and chopped green chillies
  • 1 cup sliced bitter gourds
  • 2 tsp peanut powder
  • 1 tbsp Coconut
  • grated
  • salt to taste
  • For Garnish: grated coconut

HOW TO PREPARE KARELA SABZI

  1. 1

    Heat a little oil in a pan and saute sliced onions in it.
  2. 2

    When they turn brown in colour add red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt and mix well.
  3. 3

    Add chopped tomatoes, chopped red and green chillies, and sliced bitter gourd and mix well in the masala.
  4. 4

    Add a little water and saute some more.
  5. 5

    Add some peanut powder and grated coconut to give the sabzi a good flavour.
  6. 6

    Let the bitter gourd cook well.
  7. 7

    When done, transfer it to a serving plate and garnish the sabzi with some grated coconut.
