INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup rice
  • Hot water
  • oil
  • 2 tsp coconut
  • 1 tsp powdered sugar
  • 3 tsp coconut milk

PREPARATION

    Soak rice and dry them. Blend the rice in a mixer grinder until the rice is ground to a fine powder. Transfer the blended rice into a mixing bowl. Then add hot water and knead the rice flour until it forms a dough. Cover the dough with a muslin cloth and allow it to rest for 10 t0 15 minutes. Grease the idli mould with oil. Then add a portion of the dough into the chakli maker. Squeeze out the dough slowly through a chakli maker. Place the idli tray into the steamer and steam the Idiappam for 5 minutes. For the plating: Place the prepared Idiappam on peppal leaves. Garnish the Idiappam with grated coconut powdered sugar and coconut milk.
