  • 1/2 cup rice
  • Hot water
  • oil
  • 2 tsp coconut
  • 1 tsp powdered sugar
  • 3 tsp coconut milk

    Soak rice and dry them.
  2. 2

    Blend the rice in a mixer grinder until the rice is ground to a fine powder.
  3. 3

    Transfer the blended rice into a mixing bowl.
  4. 4

    Then add hot water and knead the rice flour until it forms a dough.
  5. 5

    Cover the dough with a muslin cloth and allow it to rest for 10 t0 15 minutes.

    Grease the idli mould with oil.
  7. 7

    Then add a portion of the dough into the chakli maker.
  8. 8

    Squeeze out the dough slowly through a chakli maker.
  9. 9

    Place the idli tray into the steamer and steam the Idiappam for 5 minutes.
  10. 10

    For the plating: Place the prepared Idiappam on peppal leaves.
  11. 11

    Garnish the Idiappam with grated coconut powdered sugar and coconut milk.
