  • ½ cup soaked split red gram
  • ½ cup soaked Bengal gram
  • ½ cup soaked rice
  • ½ cup soaked white gram
  • ½ cup soaked yellow gram
  • water as required
  • 2 tbsp curd
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1-2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ¼ tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 dry red chilli
  • ¼ tsp asafoetida
  • 12-15 curry leaves
  • ½ cup grated bottle gourd
  • ½ cup fenugreek leaves
  • 1 tsp whole green gram
  • oil as required
  • 1 tsp oil
  • coriander leaves and Lemon

    Method 1 Grind together split red gram, Bengal gram, rice, white lentil and yellow gram and make paste.

    Remove this paste in a bowl and add curd, salt and sugar.

    In a pan, take oil and prepare a tempering with cumin seeds, mustard seeds, sesame seeds dry red chilli, asafoetida and curry leaves.

    Pour this tempering over the paste and then add the grated bottle gourd, fenugreek leaves and whole green gram and mix well.

    Smear a cake mould with oil and pour the mixture in it.

    Cook this mixture on a slow flame in a pressure cooker.

    When one side is cooked remove the Handvo and cook the other side in a pan.

    Method 2 Take a griddle and place it on gas.
  9. 9

    Over this griddle place a pan. Pour the Handvo mixture in this pan, close the lid and cook.
  10. 10

    Once cooked from one side flip it and cook the other side. Serve hot garnished with coriander and lemon.
