A baked yam recipe with the flavours from Gujarat

Gujarati Yam Bake
Add a spiced green pea mixture to yam chunks. Add some milk and bake it. Serve it with a thick sauce made of coconut milk and green chutney. Lastly garnish it with sweet potato chips.

INGREDIENTS

  • FOR Omelette
  • 3 eggs; 1 tsp soya sauce; Water; ½ tsp sugar; Salt
  • FOR Filling
  • 1½ tsp oil
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • ½ cup soya nuggets
  • 2 tsp soya sauce

HOW TO PREPARE GUJARATI YAM BAKE

    Heat oil in a saucepan.

    Add mustard seeds curry leaves, grated coconut, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, yam, salt and lemon juice.

    Toss it well.

    For green peas mixture: Melt ghee in a saucepan.
  5. 5

    Add cumin seeds green peas, ginger garlic paste, salt, red chilli powder and chopped coriander.

    Mash the green peas.

    Take a baking bowl and make layers of the yam mixture and green peas mixture.

    Then pour milk over it.

    Preheat the oven to 170 180 C and bake it for 15 to 20 minutes.

    For the sauce: Melt ghee in a saucepan.

    Add cumin seeds and refined flour.

    Mix it well.

    Then, add coconut milk, green chutney and green chilli paste.

    Mix it well.

    Garnish the baked yam with green sauce and sweet potato chips and amaranth leaves.
