INGREDIENTS

  • FOR Green Moong Idli
  • 1 cup split green gram soaked
  • salt to taste
  • 1 finely chopped carrot
  • 4 to 5 blanched and chopped French beans
  • FOR Masoor Chutney
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 sliced onion
  • 2 green chillies slit
  • 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp chopped ginger
  • 1 cup split red lentils soaked
  • 1 tsp Green chilli paste
  • 1 tsp tamarind paste
  • salt to taste
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • water as required
  • Oil for greasing
  • 1 star fruit sliced
  • FOR Garnish
  • Star fruit
  • Red chilli fried
  • Coriander sprigs

HOW TO PREPARE GREEN MOONG IDLIS

    For the idli batter grind soaked split green gram and salt until smooth.

    Set the batter aside for 2 hours for fermenting.
  3. 3

    In a bowl, combine the fermented idli batter with chopped carrots and French beans.

    Mix well.
  5. 5

    Grease idli moulds with oil.
  6. 6

    Fill with the prepared idli batter.
  7. 7

    Steam idlis for 15 min and unmould them.

    For masoor chutney, heat oil in a pan.
  9. 9

    Add chopped onion green chilli, fenugreek seeds, chopped ginger, soaked split red lentils, green chilli paste, tamarind paste, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, water, and sliced star fruit.

    Cook well.

    Serve green moong idlis with masoor chutney.
