Prepare a paste of soaked soybeans and red split grams. In a pressure cooker, add desi ghee, asafoetida, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds.
Add finely chopped green chillies. Add finely chopped onion and saute. Add ginger-garlic paste and let it cook. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and mix it well.
Add chopped tomatoes and mix it well. Add water as required and cook it well. Add salt as per taste and mix it well. Add the paste of dal and stir it for 2 - 3 minutes.
Add water as required and let it cook till 2 - 3 whistles. Add the dal in a bowl.
For tadka, add desi ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds, green chilli. Switch off the gas and add red chilli powder and pour the tadka on the dal
