INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup split black lentils
  • 2 cup water, Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 cup onions

PREPARATION

    In a pressure cooker, take split black lentils, add water, salt, garlic cloves and ginger paste.

    Cook it for 45minutes.

    In a saucepan, pour the cooked dal and add water.
  4. 4

    Stir it well.
  5. 5

    Heat another saucepan for tempering the dal.
  6. 6

    Add ghee, cardamom pods, cloves, cinnamon sticks, cumin seeds, chopped onions, chopped garlic, chopped ginger, chopped green chillies, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder and salt.

    Saute it well.

    Add chopped tomatoes and water.

    Stir it well.

    Add dal into the mixture.

    Saute it.

    Add curd, cream, butter and lime juice to the dal.

    Cook for 5-10minutes.

    Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.

    Punjabi Dal is ready to serve.
