  • For dal
  • 6 - 8 tbsp ghee
  • 120 gm soaked toor dal
  • 120 gm soaked urad dal (with skin)
  • 120 gm soaked moong dal
  • 120 gm soaked masoor dal
  • 120 gm soaked chana dal
  • salt as per taste
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • water as required
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 3 - 4 dried red chillies
  • 3 onions
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  • For baati
  • 2 cup coarse flour
  • salt as per taste
  • ghee as required
  • water as required
  • jaggery
  • onion

    Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and add the soaked toor dal, urad dal, moong dal, masoor dal, chana dal, salt, turmeric, red chilli powder, water and pressure cook for 3 - 4 whistles.

    Heat ghee in a pan, and add cumin seeds, dried red chillies and chopped onions and saute.

    And asafoetida, ginger paste, garlic paste, coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric and cooker lentils in the tempering and mix well.

    In a bowl, mix coarse flour, salt and ghee.

    Add water and knead the mixture into a dough.

    Make small dough balls and cook them in the charcoal fire.
  7. 7

    Remove the cooked baatis and clean them with the help of a cloth and pour ghee on them.

    Break a baati and mix jaggery in it to make churma.
  9. 9

    Dal baati is ready to serve. Pour ghee on the dal and serve it with onion and churma.
