Chawal Badiyan

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp nigella seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 cup pre soaked rice
  • 1 inch chopped ginger
  • 2 chopped garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • FOR gravy
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 green chillies
  • 2 dry red chillies
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 cup grated onion
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp grama masala
  • 1 cup tomato paste

HOW TO PREPARE CHAWAL BADIYAN

  1. 1

    Prepare a paste of soaked rice Add the paste in a bowl Add panch phoron masala.

    Add chopped ginger, garlic and mix it well Add turmeric powder, salt as per taste and mix it well Grease a plate with oil and prepare badiyan of the batter Sundry it in the sun until it turns hard.

    In a pan, add mustard oil and fry the badiyan until it turns light brown Add it in the plate.

    In the same pan, add cumin seeds, chopped green chilli, dry red chillies, bay leaves and saute Add grated onion and cook it until it turns golden brown.

    Add ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, salt as per taste, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, water and stir it.
  6. 6

    Add tomato paste and let it cook until 10 - 15 minutes Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
