Bread & Butter Pudding
Make this delicious baked pudding. Sliced bread works best in this recipe.

  • 3 to 4 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp orange zest
  • 4 slices bread
  • olive oil for greasing
  • water
  • For Custard: 4 to 5 eggs
  • 2 tbsp caster sugar
  • ½ cup milk cream
  • 5 drops vanilla essence
  • ½ tbsp cinnamon powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • For Topping Sauce :
  • 1 tbsp orange marmalade
  • For Garnish: orange wedges

    In a mixing bowl mash butter.
  2. 2

    Add orange zest to this mashed butter.
  3. 3

    Mix well.
  4. 4

    Cut the edges of the bread slices.
  5. 5

    Spread orange zest flavoured butter on the bread slices.
  6. 6

    Place these slices on a baking tray.
  7. 7

    Toast each side of the bread slices for about 2 min.

    Cut the toasted bread slices into equal pieces.
  9. 9

    For custard, whisk eggs with caster sugar, milk, and cream.

    Whisk well.

    Add a few drops of vanilla essence and cinnamon powder and mix again.

    Add olive oil to the egg mixture.

    Grease another baking tray with some olive oil.
  14. 14

    Make a base layer with the bread slices.
  15. 15

    Pour the custard on this bread layer.
  16. 16

    Make another bread layer and pour the some more custard.

    Pour a little water in another wide baking tray.

    Place the tray with bread and custard in this water filled tray.

    Bake pudding for 15 min at 200 C.

    In a heated pan, slightly warm orange marmalade.

    This is the topping for the pudding.

    Transfer the baked pudding to a serving plate.

    Top pudding with the orange marmalade sauce.
  24. 24

    Garnish pudding with orange wedges and serve.
