  • For muthiya
  • ½ bottle gourd
  • 2 tsp dry mango powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp sooji (semolina) roasted
  • 1 tsp daliya
  • 1 to 2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 - 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp curd
  • 1 banana leaf
  • 2 tsp oil
  • salt
  • For accompaniment
  • 3 - 4 green chillies
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp dry mango powder
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp clarified butter
  • salt

    In a bowl grate the bottle gourd into fine small slices.

    Add dry mango powder a pinch of sugar, some roasted sooji, grounded daliya, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, sesame seeds and curd.

    Mix them well.

    Make this mixture into small shapes.
  5. 5

    Place a banana leaf inside the steamer and brush a little oil on top of the leaf.

    Place the small shapes on the banana leaf and steam them for some time.

    To make the accompaniment, take a few slit green chillies in a bowl.

    Add a little sugar turmeric powder, red chilli powder, dry mango powder, salt, sesame seeds and clarified butter.

    Mix these well and then keep these chillies too in the steamer.

    While the steaming process goes on, heat clarified butter in a pan.

    Add mustard seeds red chilli powder and curry leaves.

    Stir gently.

    When the muthiya and chillies are cooked, transfer them to a serving dish.

    Sprinkle the tempered curry leaves mix on top and garnish it with curd.
