Bihari Mutton

INGREDIENTS

  • For Paste: 1-inch ginger
  • 8 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 2 tsp coriander seeds
  • 2 green chillies
  • Coriander sprigs
  • FOR Mutton Curry
  • 4 tbsp mustard oil
  • 500 grams mutton
  • 3 dry red chillies
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 4 - 5 green cardamom
  • 8 cloves
  • 2 tsp black peppercorns
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 black cardamom
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp jeera powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt as per taste

HOW TO PREPARE BIHARI MUTTON

  1. 1

    Prepare a paste of ginger, garlic, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, green chilli, coriander leaves and water.

    In a heated pan, add mustard oil and let it heat.
  3. 3

    Add the mutton and sear fry it.
  4. 4

    Add the fried mutton on a plate.
  5. 5

    In the same pan, add dry red chillies, bay leaves, green cardamom, cloves, black peppercorns, cinnamon sticks, black cardamom and mix.

    Add sliced onions and fry it until it turns light brown.
  7. 7

    Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt as per taste and mix.
  8. 8

    Add the masala paste, fried mutton pieces and mix it well.
  9. 9

    Add water and leave the mutton to cook on medium heat.
  10. 10

    Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve.
