  • 1 cinnamon stick, black and green cardamoms, cloves, star anise
  • 1¼ cup corn flour
  • ½ tbsp baking powder
  • 200 gm okra
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder, Oil for frying
  • ½ cup cashew nuts
  • 2-3 bay leaves
  • 1 mace flower, Sugar to taste

    Powder the cinnamon stick, black and green cardamoms, cloves, and star anise in a mixer.

    Soak the cashew nuts.
  3. 3

    In a bowl, mix the cornflour and baking powder.
  4. 4

    Chop the okra fine and keep aside the pieces in a bowl.
  5. 5

    Add the turmeric powder, chilli powder, and cornflour mix to the okra.
  6. 6

    Deep fry.
  7. 7

    Heat oil in a wok.
  8. 8

    Fry the cashew nuts, bay leaves, and mace flower.
  9. 9

    Add the okra to the wok with the 5-spice powder and sugar.
  10. 10

    Add the red chilli powder.
  11. 11

    Toss ingredients in the wok until cooked.
  12. 12

    Serve steaming hot.
